Basophil activation test is food adverse reactions

چکیده
Methods 83 subjects (66/17 females/males) with reported food adverse reactions were included in the study. Eighteen atopic/allergic subjects were included as controls for the foods to which they had reported no reactions. BAT was performed on heparinazed blood incubated with food extracts. CD63 activation marker was evaluated on basophils by flow-cytometry. The stimulation index (SI) was calculated as ratio: CD63% on basophils incubated with food extract/CD63% on basophils with wash buffer.

Food Allergy in Adults
The knowledge on adverse reactions to foods and the spectrum of food-related gastrointestinal symptoms in relation to allergy in adults is still scarce. The conventional allergy tests do not always offer with precision an accurate diagnosis in case of suspicious food allergy and therefore patients often need to be investigated further with oral food challenge or even intestinal biopsy. Adult pa...
متن کاملEvaluation of immediate allergic reactions to dipyrone using dipyrone metabolites in basophil activation test
Background Immediate selective hypersensitivity reactions to pyrazolones are thought to be mediated by specific-IgE antibodies. The diagnosis of selective reactions to pyrazolones is mainly based on the clinical history, skin testing and/ or drug provocation test (DPT). Skin testing has low sensitivity and has potential risk of eliciting an anaphylactic response as well as DPT. Therefore the us...

متن کاملChlorpheniramine-induced anaphylaxis diagnosed by basophil activation test
Chlorpheniramine is a widely prescribed H1-antihistamine for relieving urticaria or histamine-mediated allergic reactions. However, although rare, it may cause immediate hypersensitivity reactions. The diagnosis is usually made by provocation test, but its application is often limited due to comorbidities or potential risk of severe reactions. In those cases, skin tests and basophil activation ...
